More Ahmadenijad!

Ahmadenijad just can't keep himself out of the international news. This time he has become Paul the Octopus and predicted that the US will strike two Middle East countries within the next three month. Apparently he's got really good intelligence that informed him of this, turns out the informant was a Gazelle since Octopii are in short supply in his neck of the woods.

"They have decided to attack at least two countries in the region in the next three months," Ahmadinejad said in excerpts broadcast on the rolling news channel on Tuesday.

"The logic that they can persuade us to negotiate through sanctions is just a failure," Ahmadinejad said.

Good point Ahmadinejad, maybe thats why your informant is telling you that we are through negotiating via sanctions.

Mahmoud vs. Paul the Octopus

Iranian leader, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has deemed Paul the Octopus worth of his scorn. In case you don't remember (or don't watch soccer), Paul the Octopus is the soccer match predictor. Paul correctly picked the winner in 8 different games in a row. Being from Germany he chose his home team to win their first seven games, only to choose them to loose in the finals. Paul became a worldwide sensation with his ability to predict the winner of the matches.

Mahmoud stated:

Paul was mentioned by Ahmadinejad on various occasions during a speech pronounced today [Saturday] in which he cited the octopus as an example of “methods of propaganda and superstitions” on the West. […]

“Those who believe in this type of thing cannot be the leaders of the global nations that aspire, like Iran, to human perfection, basing themselves in the love of all sacred values,” Ahmadinejad said.

Poor Paul, why does the bully have to pick on you :(

The Iran Solution

Former CIA director, Michael Hayden, says that a military strike against Iran is more than likely these days. Hayden said that no matter what the US does diplomatically, Iran still continues their nuclear weapons development.

Michael Hayden, a CIA chief under President George W. Bush, says that during his tenure a strike was "way down the list" of options. But he tells CNN's "State of the Union" that such action now "seems inexorable."

He predicts Iran will build its program to the point where it's just below having an actual weapon. Hayden says that would be as destabilizing to the region as the real thing.

U.S. officials have said military action remains an option if sanctions fail to deter Iran.

Iran says its nuclear work is for peaceful purposes such as power generation.

I have mixed feelings about this one. I really don't want Iran to have nuclear weapons, but another theatre of engagement for the army? Even if it is not a formal engagement of war against Iran and we just strike their nuclear facilities, don't you think Iran will make our lives more miserable in Iraq and Afghanistan? It is a tough situation, I hope the President and his cabinet make the right choice.
