Tea Party leaders involved with removal of billboard

The billboard in north Iowa linking Obama with Hitler and Lenin was removed in part by pressure from Tea Party Leaders. Shelby Blakely of Tea Party Patriots was quoted as saying:

"That's just a waste of money, time, resources and it's not going to further our cause," said Shelby Blakely, a leader of the Tea Party Patriots, a national group. "It's going to make people think that the tea party is full of a bunch of right-wing fringe people, and that's not true."

There is sometimes a lot of garbage that come from the bottom of a movement and it is great to see that the leadership of the movement was involved with filtering it out. What that billboard did in Iowa was to distract from the message, and generalize the tea party as "wingnuts."
